Nept Track Privacy Policy
Effective 10 October 2026
Your data stays on your phone
Tasks, habits, alarms, money records, notes and inbox captures are saved in a database on your device only. They are not uploaded to any server, and nobody else can read them.
Uninstalling the app deletes that database. Export a backup from Settings first if you want to keep it.
There is no account
Nept Track does not ask you to sign up, and does not collect your name, email address or phone number.
Anonymous usage analytics
The app uses Microsoft Clarity to understand which screens people use and where the app breaks. This records how you move through the app.
It does not record the words you write. Note text, task titles and transaction amounts are masked and are not sent anywhere.
The app also counts a few actions, such as creating a task, converting a capture or sharing a report, as plain event names. These carry only fixed labels, like "habit" or "expense", never your text, amounts or category names.
You can turn all of this off at any time in Settings › Your data › Share anonymous usage data. When it is off, nothing is recorded.
AI assistant (optional)
Nept AI answers questions about your own habits and spending using Google Gemini. It is off until you read what it shares and turn it on.
When you ask a question, the app sends Google a summary it computes on your phone: habit names and how often you did them, the titles of open to-dos, spending totals per category, budgets and inbox counts, together with your question. Your notes, your captures, transaction notes and individual transactions are never sent.
Conversations are not saved by the app. Google processes requests under its own terms (Gemini API terms). Turn the assistant off at any time in Settings › Preferences › Ask Nept.
Advertising
Nept Track shows ads from Google AdMob: banners and ads inside longer lists, a full-screen ad now and then at a natural break such as leaving an insights screen, and sometimes one when you come back to the app. Screens with little of your own content show no ads, an ad never appears when you leave the app, and a full-screen ad is never shown while an alarm is ringing. Ads never appear inside the task, alarm, money or note editors.
Google may use your device's advertising ID and approximate location, derived from your IP address, to show ads that are more relevant to you. Where the law requires it, you are asked for consent first and can change your choice in Settings. You can reset or delete the advertising ID in your phone's settings.
Nothing you write, and none of your amounts, tasks or notes, is used to choose ads. See how Google uses data in ads.
Reminders
Reminders are scheduled by your phone and stay on your phone. Turning notifications off in Settings stops them immediately.
If you pick one of your phone's own tones for a reminder or an alarm, the app stores only a link to that tone. It does not read, copy or upload your sound files.
Alarms
Alarms you set in Nept Track are stored and scheduled on your phone. To ring on time, even with the app closed or the phone locked, the app uses Android's alarm permissions: exact alarms, full-screen alerts over the lock screen, and a short-lived foreground service that plays the tone and vibrates until you snooze or dismiss it. None of this sends anything off your phone.
Focus time and widgets
If you give the app Do Not Disturb access, it switches your phone to Do Not Disturb during the focus blocks you set, and switches it back afterwards. It does not read your notifications or calls.
Home-screen widgets show a summary of your tasks, money and notes. That summary is kept on your phone for the widget to draw.
App lock
If you turn on the app lock, your phone checks your fingerprint, face or screen lock itself. Nept Track never sees or stores your biometric data.
Your choices
Export your data as a file at any time from Settings, and import it again later.
Erase everything from Settings. That is immediate and cannot be undone.
Children
Nept Track is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
